The workshop meeting of the Great Meadows Regional Board of Education was held on Monday, January 9, 2006, at Great Meadows Middle School, Independence Township.  The meeting was called to order at 7:35 PM by Glenn Williams, President.  A statement was read that adequate notice of the meeting had been given in accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act.

ROLL CALL:

 

Present: Helene Armstrong, Susan Cullen, Amy Dieteman, Peggy Faulborn, Robert Jones, and Glenn Williams.

 

Absent: Joe Mahal, Cynthia Russo and Thomas Webster.

 

There were 6 members of the public in attendance.

 

Committee reports were discussed.

 

Public Comment on Agenda Items:

 

Bill Vonder Haar remarked that he had seen a back door of the middle school propped open with a rock.

 

5.1         Upon recommendation of the Superintendent, motion by Amy Dieteman, seconded by Peggy Faulborn, to approve the following Curriculum item 5.1.1.

 

Motion carried in a unanimous voice vote.

 

5.1.1                       Approve Toni Gelok, Kutztown University student, to observe ten hours in grades 1 through 4 at the Central School between December 16, 2005 and January 14, 2006.

 

Old Business:

 

Discussion was held concerning

·        Policy revisions to be distributed on disk

·        Projection of a timeline for budget preparation

 

New Business:

 

Discussion was held concerning

·        Suggestions to improve public relations

·        District bid threshold

·        Susan Cullen handed over her Board of Education email records (May 2004 – December 2005) to be kept for at least three years in the Board Office in accordance with the Open Public Records Act.

 

Motion by Peggy Faulborn, seconded by Bob Jones, whereas, the Board must consider matters involving personnel, the deliberation of such matters may be held in private under the Open Public Meeting Act NJSA 10:4-6, the Board will adjourn to Executive Session at 8:00 PM to discuss the above mentioned matter, to the exclusion of all others.  Action is not anticipated.

Motion carried in a unanimous voice vote.

 

Glenn Williams recused himself and left the meeting at 8:10 PM.

 

Motion by Peggy Faulborn, seconded by Bob Jones, to re-enter regular session at 9:00 PM.

Motion carried in a unanimous voice vote.

 

Motion by Helene Armstrong, seconded by Peggy Faulborn, to adjourn at 9:00 PM.

Motion carried in a unanimous voice vote.
