A special meeting of the Great Meadows Regional Board of Education was held on Thursday, February 15, 2007, at Great Meadows Middle School, Independence Township. The meeting was called to order at 6:32 PM by Peggy Faulborn, Vice-President. A statement was read that adequate notice of the meeting had been given in accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act.

ROLL CALL:

Present: Helene Armstrong, Jennifer Cassini, Susan Cullen, Peggy Faulborn, Joe Mahal, Bernie O’Hara, and William Vonder Haar.

Absent: Maryann Citro and Robert Jones.

The purpose of the meeting was to vote on a reply to the petition for Deregionalization submitted to the Sate of New Jersey by Liberty Township.

Motion by Jennifer Cassini, seconded by Bernie O’Hara, whereas, the Board must consider matters involving ongoing litigation, the deliberation of such matters may be held in private under the Open Public Meeting Act NJSA 10:4-6, the Board will adjourn to Executive Session at 6:35 PM to discuss the above mentioned matter, to the exclusion of all others. If any action results, it will be taken following the re-entry into regular session.

Motion carried in a unanimous voice vote.

Susan Cullen left the meeting at 6:59 PM.

Helene Armstrong left the meeting at 7:00 PM.

Motion by Jennifer Cassini, seconded by Bernie O’Hara, to re-enter regular session at 7:05 PM.

Motion carried in a unanimous voice vote.

Upon recommendation of the Superintendent and legal council, motion by Jennifer Cassini, seconded by Bernie O’Hara, to approve the response to the petition for Deregionalization submitted to the State of New Jersey by Liberty Township.

Roll Call Vote: Yes: Cassini, Faulborn, Mahal, O’Hara.

No: Vonder Haar - Motion carried.

Motion by Joe Mahal, seconded by Jennifer Cassini, to adjourn at 7:06 PM.

Motion carried in a unanimous voice vote.
