The kindergarten and first grades in our district took part in a fun internet project that involved

184 classrooms from 36 states and 2 Canadian Provinces. Each class had to estimate the number of pumpkin seeds in their 1-5 pound pumpkin. Then they had to cut open the pumpkin and actually count the number (using tally marks). It was a messy “operation” but VERY fun!

The classes also decided to do several other related activities. The kindergarteners made their traditional pumpkin hats. The first grades had a “Pumpkin Fashion Show”. Here are a few of their creations!
