The Five People You Meet in Heaven

Wouldn’t it be delightful to spend the last hour of your life at an amusement park? The main character, Eddie, not only spent his last hour, but the bulk of his life, at Ruby Pier maintaining the rides. In a heroic final act, Eddie dies trying to save the life of a young girl who is in the path of a runaway cart. When he reaches heaven, Eddie learns in a series of vignettes the unexpected ways that his life crossed with other peoples lives on earth. The book was compelling and surprising. I enjoyed it so much, that I read the author’s Tuesdays with Morrie, which I found even more inspirational.
