Private Peaceful

Private Peaceful is a spellbinding novel of historical fiction. The story leads the reader on a roller coaster journey of emotions with characters that captivate your interest and empathy. The novel is presented in a unique way using techniques and devices often not found in other books. Each chapter begins in the present and then flashes back to an earlier time in the lives of the characters. Each chapter title is a time stamp reflecting the present chronological sequence of events.

The author provides just enough information regarding the present scenario that the reader anxiously works to decipher clues and predict what is happening, where the character is and what the end result may be. The flashbacks provide for the development of the characters and the past events that led to the present situation.

As an avid reader of historical fiction, Private Peaceful brought me to a time period, location and event that I have often overlooked in my reading. The novel also makes a strong social commentary about a truly tragic situation in world history that has been completely overlooked and ignored. The author’s skill in allowing the reader to get to know and relate to the characters and the unique method of presenting the story amplified the emotional impact that the reader feels at the end. I would strongly recommend this book.
