Where I Want to Be
By Adele Griffin
This is a story told in alternating chapters
by two sisters who look a great deal alike. Jane is older, and Lily is only one
year younger. Jane taught Lily to play make-believe and protected her from
thunderstorms. As they got older though, Jane continued to want to play make
believe while Lily wanted reality. Although they chose separate paths and it
was hard for them in high school, they remained connected to one another. Then
something awful happens to Jane and there is a question as to whether she did
it on purpose or not. Lily has to face
the world ahead of her, which proves to be quite difficult. There is a lot of guilt and feelings of love
that must be overcome.
