Philosophy

The underlying philosophy of the Great Meadows Regional School Library Media Program is to help students develop information processing skills in order to become contributing members of society and  lifelong learners.  To facilitate this goal, students will be able to...

  • access information in a variety of print, non print, and technological resources.

  • assess the validity and credibility of information sources.

  • acquire and utilize research skills as an integral part of the learning experience.

  • experience a breadth and depth of quality literature

  • vicariously experience a variety of cultures and lifestyles in various genres of literature.

We believe the school library should be a place where the student has freedom to choose within a structured environment, acquiring self-direction; and the student acquires a love for books and reading.  We believe the school library program should be integrated with the formal curriculum to widen, deepen, intensify, and individualize the educational experience.
