Jim Alercia stopped in to let parents know the superintendent search was continuing, but nearing a close.  April 18 and April 20 the two final candidates will be visiting the schools.  A community forum to be held on Wednesday April 20 at the middle school where the public will meet them and ask any questions.  Candidate #1 scheduled for 7:00 PM and candidate #2 at 8:00 PM.

Mr. Alercia also said a flyer will be going home with the students with information on the school budget and a reminder to vote on Tuesday April 19.

Mr. O’Hara and Mr. Bechtel asked PATHS to again sponsor “Jaguar Hoops”  their summer basketball camp.  They will be opening this to others schools once our district has had the first opportunity to sign up.  Also still a question on gym availability.

Motion to sponsor Hoops-Carolyn Pullman

6.  Old Business

31 responses came back showing interest in a parent/student baseball game.  It was decided to go ahead with holding it on a Sunday.  A sign up flyer will be sent home.

Due to lack of interest the Dare to Dream basketball game will not be held next year to raise money for the 8th grade Washington DC trip.  Nancy looked into the Harlem Wizards but they are expensive-$1,600.00 for a two player show.  Mr. O’Hara suggested a donkey basketball game where the teachers would ride donkeys while playing.  This is an interesting idea and will be looked into.

We are still looking for more ideas on raising money.  The 7th grade is currently running a pizza

fund-raiser.  Also planned are 50/50 raffles  Looking into running a concession stand the weekend of May 6-8 for the state championship game being held at the middle school.`

Basket raffle will be held June 1 for the 4th & 5th grades to raise money for concert instruments sponsored by PATHS.  10% will be donated back to the middle school.

The Drug Awareness, Internet Safety and Meet the Candidates nights all went well.

7.  Committees

T Shirts-nothing to report

Assemblies-$750.00 was spent on today’s assembly.  The middle school has been doing well at applying for grants to hold assemblies.  No more are scheduled this year.

Market Day- pick up April 19.  May is running a teacher/staff special.  Anyone ordering and showing school identification will receive 10% off.

Box Tops-sent in just over $1,000.00.  Pizza party was held.  The committee has not decided what to spend profits on yet.

Hospitality and Directory-nothing to report

Teacher Appreciation-week of May 2-6.  Still looking for help Monday and Wednesday at 6:30AM.

8.  New Business

The Mayberry family lost their house  in a fire.  PATHS will be donating school supplies to them in April and August for back to school.  Anyone with pictures of the Mayberry’s  from school events, games or whatever is asked to send them in.

Hackettstown High School Scholarship applications were sent out and due back May 4.  Students are to write an essay on what my experience at GMMS has meant to me as I continue my education.  Teachers will pick the winning essay and the award will be presented at a ceremony June 7.

Election of officers for the 2005-2006 school year took place.  Nancy Caramico, Liza Thomas, Carolyn Pullman and Maureen Porter were  unanimously voted in for president, vice-president, treasurer and secretary.

Meeting adjourned at 7:25 PM.  Next meeting scheduled May 25 at 6:30 PM.  Parent advisory committee held immediately after.
