Kindergarten Registration

Registration for the 2004-2005 school year will be held on January 19, 2004.  If your child will be 5 years of age on or before October 1, 2005, please phone Mrs. Lanzarone at the school at 637-4115.   By phoning early, you will help us determine possible class size.  We will send you a kindergarten registration packet to be completed and brought back at registration.  If you have neighbors with small children, please advise them of our upcoming kindergarten registration.

Parents:  Please Note!

Students may not be dropped off at the school before 8:35AM.  There is no supervision for them before that time!

We have had many parents coming to pick up their children early.  Please realize that having the office call the classroom is very disruptive to the entire class.  Thank you for your consideration!

School Closings and Delayed Openings

With winter approach- ing, it is likely that there will be school closings and delayed openings as a result of inclement weather.  Our telephone system allows you to get the latest announcements by simply dialing the Liberty School auto attendant.  Mr. Batha will leave a message on the auto attendant if there is any change to the normal schedule.  Liberty School Auto Attendant – 637-4790.  Announcements will also continue to be made with the local radio/TV stations listed:  Radio:  WRNJ-AM 1510/FM 107.1; TV:  WFMZ-TV Channel 69-Comcast Channel 18.

Civil War Santa

A Civil War Santa will make a visit at Shippen Manor Museum in Oxford on Sunday, December 12, between the hours of 1-4 o'clock.  Learn about what Christmas was like during the 1860's.  This is a great opportunity for Brownies, Girl Scouts, Tiger and Cub Scout groups.  If you will be coming with a large group, please call 453-4381 for reservations or directions to Shippen Manor Museum.  Families do not need reservations.  A small admission fee is requested:  Adults- $3.00 each, Seniors- $2.00 each, children under 12 years of age- FREE!  See what Christmas was like over 100 years ago!

Girl Scout Troop 516

Girl Scout Troop 516 would like to thank all the volunteers, bakers and supporters of their Bake Sale on November 17.  The bake sale was a huge success and the proceeds will go to a needy child for Christmas and the food bank.  A special thank you to Villa Venice for donating lunch for the troop!  All the girls did a great job!

Early Release

On days when risky weather arrives unexpectedly and the children are in school, you may call the auto attendant number for information.  If an early closing has been decided, the message will state the time of dismissal and any other pertinent information.  The auto attendant number, 637-4790, is the only school number that will have emergency closing, delayed opening or early release information.  Although we make every effort to keep children in school for the full session once they have arrived, some circumstances may require an early release.  PLEASE INSURE THAT YOU HAVE A PLAN IN PLACE TO CARE FOR YOUR CHILDREN SHOULD IT BE NECESSARY FOR SCHOOL TO DISMISS EARLIER THAN NORMAL.  Our constant fear is that a child goes home to an empty house or a locked house and has no idea what to do.  PLEASE PLAN AHEAD.  If special arrangements are made, please inform your school principal.  We want ALL CHILDREN SAFE.  Again, PLEASE PLAN AHEAD.

Art News

Congratulations to Kim Nicholls, Julia Dorward, John Gould, Ryan Rutkoski, Adrienne Novack, Erin Lay, Emily Mugno, Danielle Cerminara, Andy Calderone, Michael Rice, Andrew Pryslak, Elizabeth Pryslak, Kim Stanford, Devon Sabo and Nicole Napolitano for solving the Mystery Artist Contest!  Frank Lloyd Wright, the famous American architect, was the November/December artist.

Here are the clues for January’s contest:

  • This famous artist is best known for his moving sculptures, called mobiles.
  • He often made them out of abstract metal shapes.
  • He also made many sculptures that stood still, called stabiles.
  • He was born in Lawnton, PA in 1898.
  • His initials are A.C.

Good luck and please turn all guesses in to the art room by January 21, 2005.
