School will be closed on Monday, February 20^th in observance of Presidents’ Weekend. Board of Education The February 27^th BOE regular meeting will be held at Central School at 7:30PM. The change in location will enable community members to partake in a guided tour of the building. If anyone would like to donate leftover yarn from knitting or other crafts, please send it to the art room. Thanks in advance! Liberty Township Recreation Commission Baseball/Softball reminder - Please send in copies of participants' birth certificates if you have not already done so. T-Ball - Rule Change - Registration is now open for children turning 5-years-old as of May 1, 2006. Baseball League Clinic - 4th grade and up - March 25 - register now. Umpire Clinic - 15 years and older - March 11-- 9 AM to 3 PM - place to be announced. Members Needed - Commission has openings for two full members and two alternates. Liberty Cub Pack 138 Telephone book recycling will be held March 15-April 15. Place your old telephone books in the container at Liberty School. Montclair State University Gifted & Talented Spring 2006 Program The Spring 2006 weekend program will begin on Saturday and Sunday, March 4^th and 5^th, and continue through Saturday and Sunday, May 13^th and 14^th. For information on the MSU Spring and Summer 2006 programs, please ask for a brochure at the Liberty School office or call the University at 973-655-4104.		Calling All Kindergarten Students! Registration for the 2006-2007 school year will be held on February 22, 2006. If your child will be 5 years of age on or before October 1, 2006, please call Mrs. Lanzarone at 637-4115 for a registration packet and an appointment. Any registered voter interested in being a candidate for the school board can obtain nominating petitions from the board office located in the basement of Central School, 281 Route 46, Great Meadows, NJ 07838, telephone 908-637-8672. Petitions must be filed by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2006 Candidates filing a nominating petition for board membership must meet the following qualifications; · He/She is a citizen of the United States of America · He/She must be at least 18 years of age to qualify for office · He/She must be able to read and write · He/She has been a resident of the municipality from which he/she is to be elected for at least one year preceding the date of the election · He/She is not disqualified as a voter pursuant to N.J.S.A. 19:4-1 · He/She is a registered voter in the district No board of education member shall be directly or indirectly involved in any contract with, or claim against the board. For Independence Township, there are two (2) seats open for a full three (3) year term. For Liberty Township there is one (1) seat open for a full three (3) year term and one (1) seat open for an unexpired two (2) year term. To vote in the upcoming school election, a resident must be registered to vote by March 20, 2006. Voter Registration forms can be obtained from the Independence or Liberty Township Municipal Clerk, the Election Board in Belvidere, or the NJ State income tax booklet mailed to your home. PTO News Our next meeting is on March 7^th from 7-8:30pm with free babysitting.  We hope to see you there! Thanks to the volunteers who made the January Teacher’s Appreciation “Soup and Breads” event delicious!  Mrs. Kosiorek was the lucky winner of a Barnes & Noble gift card donated by the Grüb family.  Thank you, Grüb’s! The latest Birthday Book Club members had their photos taken with the book they donated to Liberty’s library; check out their beautiful pictures on the library bulletin board.  The Boxtops/Campbell’s/Tyson’s contest is still going on until February 15^th so send in those labels as soon as you get them!  Market Day orders are due by Tuesday, February 14^th; pickup is on Wednesday, February 22^nd.  The Brain Challenge assembly will be held on: Monday, February 13^th K-2 9:15AM-10:15AM 3-5 10:25AM-11:25AM Parents are welcome to attend! Tiger Sports Association Football & Cheerleading Registration for the 2006 season at Hackettstown Community Center March 4^th 9-11 AM, March 8^th 7-9 PM, and final sign-ups, no exceptions, April 1^st 9 -11AM. Open to residents of Hackettstown, Allamuchy, Independence, and Liberty townships. All players entering grades K-8 as of September 2006 are eligible for football. All football players new to the program must submit a copy of their birth certificate. All girls entering grades 2-8 as of September 2006 are eligible for cheerleading.
