Thank you to the MANY Field Day volunteers
who helped ensure that the children, teachers and parents all had a
great day. Special thanks to Ms. Baatz for organizing the fun
games! Thanks also to McDonald's, Burger King and Liberty Liquors
for their generous donations, and to the Mountain Lake Fire Company for
the use of their grill. The day would not have been possible without
such awesome team effort! Congratulations
to Liberty Elementary alumni, Kelly Durkin and Kris Mayer, who will be
graduating from Hackettstown High this year and won our PTO's Academic
Achievement Awards. We wish you both the best of luck in your
future endeavors. June
wrapped up our last Teacher Appreciation Day with
a beautiful cake made and donated by Sandy Durkin. Thank you so
much Mrs. Durkin and to all the parents and businesses who made this the
best Teacher Appreciation year yet! Pictures of the cake can
be found on the PTO bulletin board at the school. Thank you
to the 5th Grade Send-Off volunteers who helped make it
such a huge success! The 5th graders are now officially ready for the
middle school. Thanks also to Harper's, Villa Venice and the
Hackettstown Rita's and Quick Check for their generous donations to the
event, and to Kenny Lunden for the great music! Community
Day is
scheduled for June 11th. Volunteers to run the
PTO game booths that day for 1-2 hours from 3:00-5:00 pm are still
needed. If you are available that day, even for a short time, please
contact Chair Sarah Grub as soon as possible at 637-6810 or 637-4457. There are
many items that were so kindly donated throughout the
school year (decorations, carpet samples, etc.) that are in the Teachers'
Lounge. If you would like these items back, please pick them
up before the last day of school, otherwise they will be
donated to charity. Thank you! |

PTO News (Continued) Colleen
Makarevich has kindly volunteered to fill the open Co-President
position, however, will withdraw her nomination should anyone else be
interested. Nominations will be accepted until the last day of school,
June 14th. If you are interested, please contact Colleen, Nominating
Committee chairperson, at colleenmak@comcast.net (preferred) or at

our September meeting, Colleen has graciously offered to serve as
"acting" Co-President through the summer months (if no one else is
interested). The PTO
portion of the school website has been updated with meeting
minutes, agendas, By-Laws, treasurers' reports, committees and
descriptions, chairs, and e-mail addresses. Watch for officer
job descriptions to be posted soon. We are hoping the website will be
used as an additional way of keeping the lines of communication open within
our PTO. The link is http://www.gmrsd.com/liberty.htm. Lastly, a
HUGE special thank you to ALL the committee chairs who
did such a phenomenal job of running each and every committee throughout the
school year. We stayed within budget on every line item and were still
able to give our kids the very best. Hats off to you all and
to each parent who helped and/or donated to make the committees run so
successfully!!! Learning Castle
