Dear Sixth Grade Parents & Students: We hope that you are having a wonderful summer and are looking forward to attending Great Meadows Middle School in September. To ease your transition from the elementary school to the middle school, we are inviting you to the middle school for a bagel breakfast or afternoon snacks to meet with us and have an opportunity to practice using the middle school lockers. The “Bagel and Locks” program will be held on Monday, August 25th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. We will also have a “Snacks and Locks” program on Monday, August 25th from 4-5:30 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there. If you cannot attend either of the events, you may stop by the middle school with your parents and practice using the hallway lockers during the last week of August, Tuesday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Please enjoy the remainder of the summer and we look forward to a great year with you at Great Meadows Middle School.
The New Jersey Department of Education, along with 16 other states and the District of Columbia, have been working to establish next generation assessments that measure students’ skills and abilities in English Language Arts and Mathematics. PARCC (Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Career) will measure students’ abilities based on the Common Core Standards. This year, Great Meadows Regional School District will be participating in a series of field tests to ensure our readiness to deliver these online assessments, which will replace the NJ ASK starting in the 2014-15 school year.
