BORROWING PRIVILEGES
  • Students may borrow up to three books and one magazine at a time.  Books may be borrowed for two weeks and magazines may be borrowed for one week. Materials may be renewed if there is no reserve on the particular item.

  • Book report books are assigned a due date as designated by the classroom teacher. The book is due back to the media center the day the book report is due. This is usually a four to six-week period.  At times, it will be necessary to renew a book report book.  The renewal period for a book report book is two weeks.

  • All reference materials and current periodicals will be used in the media center only.  Students will have the opportunity to visit the media center during activity period and lunch to use these items.  The World Book Encyclopedia 1998 is an encyclopedia set students are allowed to borrow as an overnight loan.

  • Students will receive overdue notices for late materials.  Please stop by to discuss the item with Mrs. O'Connor if it has been returned, lost or damaged. If students ignore overdue notices, their borrowing privileges will be temporarily suspended until the issue is resolved.  For further information on borrowing privileges, please refer to the agenda book.

RESERVED MATERIALS: You may request to reserve an item that is currently circulating.  When the item is returned, Mrs. O'Connor will notify you with a green reserve notice.  You will have one week to pick up the item before it is put back on the shelf for other students to borrow.

VOLUNTEERS: Students have the opportunity to volunteer in the library to help shelve books and magazines, organize files, and to help with library projects.  Students must receive permission from their classroom teacher to help during their activity period.  Students are also welcome to participate in the new "ADOPT-A-SHELF" program.  Please refer to the HOME page for additional information.
