ABOUT CENTRAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (GRADES PK-3)

*Central Elementary School serves approximately 300 preschool through 3rd grade students in the Great Meadows Regional School District.

*Principal Michael Mai began at the school in 2014 after serving as assistant principal at Hackettstown Middle School and a 10-year teaching career in both Jersey City and Hackettstown.

*Central Elementary School's address is 281 Route 46 in Great Meadows, NJ. It is "technically" located in Independence. The phone number is 908-637-4041.

*Central Elementary School utilizes the RealTime student information system for all student-related matters, including, but not limited to, lunch accounts, field trips, attendance and discipline records, and emergency alerts.

*Central Elementary School is on Twitter: @GMcentralJags #JaguarStars and uses the Remind app for occasional school-related communications. Individual teachers may also use these forms of communication to focus on classroom-specific news.

*Central Elementary School is comprised of two sections of preschool, and currently has three sections each in K-3.

*Students in all grades (including preschool) receive physical education, health, art, music, world language (K-3 only), technology and library classes weekly. These creative arts are an important part of student growth.

*Central Elementary School features a variety of after-school activities for all students: Crazy 8s Club, Maker Space Jr. Club, Mindfulness Club, Gardening Club, Spirit Club, and Newspaper Club are some of our offerings. In addition, at-risk students are provided extra assistance with Title I-funded clubs: Skill Builders Reading, Skill Builders Math, Reading Club, and "Think Tank" Homework Club.

*Central Elementary School holds monthly assemblies to celebrate reading and good character. Students earn medals for earning steps on their Just Right Reading logs. They also earn Jaguar Star tickets, which can earn them weekly prizes and the chance to be a Student of the Month.
