In the interest of your child’s safety while in school, and in light of recent events involving school security, the district is modifying parent access to all three schools. Below you will find the procedures specific to each school. We ask that you strictly adhere to these procedures to ensure the safety of all staff and students in Great Meadows Regional School District. These new procedures address parent access to each school. For any student being picked up at dismissal, parents will report to the gym lobby and sign their child out. As typical, if you will be picking up your child, please call ahead to notify the office by noon.
Central School & Liberty Elementary Schools:
Student drop off continues to be the same for each building. Parents will be allowed to walk their students to the door. In the event a student forgets something at home, including lunch, parents will be allowed to bring those items to the office for a period of 1 hour after school begins (9 a.m.-10:00 a.m.). After 10 a.m. parents will be allowed access to the building under the following conditions:
- Pre Scheduled appointment with district personnel
- Pre Scheduled school events (Book Fairs, Career Days, etc)
Student Pick up:
Any parent who will be picking up their child on a regular basis must notify the school office in writing. If a parent wishes to pick up a child that is not a regular pick up, the parent must notify the office in writing or call prior to 12:00 p.m. Parents will be permitted into the building to sign students out only after 3:10 p.m.
Middle School:
Middle school drop off procedures remain unchanged. Students will be dropped off by the gym lobby. Once again, please drop students off onto the sidewalk so as to avoid having them cross the street during heavy traffic. In the event a student forgets something at home, including lunch, parents will be allowed to bring those items to the office for a period of 1 hour after school begins (8 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.). After 9 a.m. parents will be allowed access to the building under the following conditions:
- Pre Scheduled appointment with district personnel
- Pre Scheduled school events (Book Fairs, Career Days, etc)
Student Pick up:
Any parent who will be picking up their child on a regular basis must notify the school office in writing. If a parent wishes to pick up a child that is not a regular pick up, the parent must notify the office in writing or call prior to 12:00 p.m. Parents will be permitted into the building to sign students out only after 2:35 p.m.
Once again, the procedures and limited access to the buildings are being modified in the interest of the safety of your children and district staff. We appreciate your support and understanding and look forward to a safe and successful school year.
