• Dear Liberty Families,

I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable summer break. As August quickly comes to a close we are eager to welcome your children back to Liberty Elementary School for an outstanding 2017-18 school year. Our administrative, custodial, and secretarial staff have been working throughout the summer months preparing the building for another amazing school year. Liberty has undergone some noteworthy changes and building upgrades, some of which include:

    • Starting year two of the Go Math series
    • New “Fusion” science textbooks including many hands-on lab activities
    • Remodeled media center/ STEM Lab/ MakersSpace
    • Installation of main entrance vestibules
    • Freshly painted classrooms throughout the building
    • Classroom reorganization to create specific grade level wings

Liberty Elementary truly looks better than ever! I encourage all of you to attend Back to School Night on Monday, September 25th, 2017 to take a tour. I am thrilled to welcome you and your families back to Liberty, our 2017-18 school year motto will be, “Learning Can Take You Anywhere.” The staff has chosen different countries to represent each homeroom. We will be utilizing a nautical theme in which students will navigate the hallways to visit different areas of the world throughout the school year.

Liberty takes great pride in creating an educational atmosphere where students can learn in a caring and creative environment. Together our staff encourages students to engage in a lifelong love of learning. As we focus on student achievement we will provide a variety of academic and educational experiences that promote student growth and learning throughout the year. In our newly developed team environment teachers will regularly collaborate, analyze data, plan instruction, and develop common assessments to ensure student achievement is attained throughout each grade level. During the upcoming school year I encourage you to take an active role in your child’s learning. Parent involvement plays a critical role in our school’s success. Ways to support and increase your child’s academic success include:

    • Make attendance a PRIORITY including limiting tardiness and absences
    • Check Parent Portal regularly to stay informed of student progress
    • Communicate often with your child’s homeroom teacher
    • Read with your child at least 20 minutes a day
    • Limit television and social media, encourage outside play
    • Review the school day with your child

The staff and I are looking forward to an educationally rewarding school year with you and your children. I hope that you will visit and volunteer often.

    With Liberty Pride,

    Jennifer Macones
