Dear Teachers and Staff of GMRSD grades K-5,
In the beginning of the 2010/2011 school year the PTO put out a wish list for each
teacher to fill out. The PTO was a new organization staffed with all new officers. The
schools had just been realigned and many teachers changed grade levels. With all the
changes we were curious as to what the needs of teachers and staff would be in the
new environment. We are grateful for your input.
The PTO has a goal of helping to enrich the educational and extracurricular
experience for all the students in our district. One of the ways we feel we can be helpful
is by offering teacher grants. These would be monetary contributions to embellish
curriculum or purchase supplies to meet specific needs. Some examples of grants in
the past are, 1st Grade projector & cart bundle, garden tools, 2 V-Tech Nitro Notebooks
for kindergarten, 3rd grade science enrichment magnification equipment, gym
equipment and upgrades, recess bags, music instruments, books for reading closet and
much more!
In July 2011, the PTO will begin accepting applications from teachers for grants for the 2011/2012 school year. The grant request must start with a written request and then be presented at a PTO meeting (see Grant Procedure form). Keep in mind these will be considered on a first come first serve basis and we must work within a budget.
The PTO will supply forms for grant requests to any teacher or staff wanting one.
Additionally, the PTO will re-evaluate the grant procedure during the 2011/2012 school year to ensure its fairness.
We look forward to hearing from you and plan on voting on the grants sometime in the
first quarter of the 2011/2012 school year. Thank you for your patience and for working with the PTO Officers!
